When I am not hangin’ with Miss Abby at Wholefoods, working I am usually volunteering my time to help transport rescue dogs from high kill shelters to either their rescue shelter or their forever home

Why are you great at your job?

I’m an innate problem solver — I love brainstorming about ideas, concepting, and finding new approaches to old problems. I refuse to copy something that another company has already done…it’s all about leveraging concepts that work to create a unique offering that solves a marketing inefficiency. Blueye has been very luck to work with clients who are passionate and enthusiastic about their company and products/offerings – it’s contagious and makes my job a whole lot easier!

Favorite Happy Hour drink?

Same as Shannon — Vodka martini, Chicago River Dirty.

Favorite Vintage Video Game?

As much as I’m a self-proclaimed tech geek, I’m still very old school. No iPad for this gal…I prefer quill & scroll and the smell of an trusty paperback. Therefore, I must answer this question with “Scrabble”.

If you had 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

I would pay off my student loans, and then build an animal sanctuary. That also has housing for homeless youth. They would help take care of the animals, while learning valuable job/life skills.

Do you have any pets?

I have 3 cats (cat lady, what?): Lulu, Edith, and Ollie who is a polydactyl. It looks like she is wearing giant mittens and she walks like a gecko.

Gin and Tonic. Classic.

I share an office with Heath and Jason. My “view” is of a lot of plaid and grandpa sweaters.

BLACKHAWKS. And any team from Missouri for every other sport.

What makes you the most happy?

Going to the beach with friends.

If you had 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

I’d pay off school loans, then I’d buy an abandoned warehouse and turn it into a practice space for musicians and start an after school program in said warehouse for kids to jam.

Do you have any pets?

I, well my Mom and Dad, have an awesome bulldog named Cozmo. I think she was named after the male actor Michael Richards from Seinfeld, but she’s such a diva that I like to think her name reflects Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Why are you great at your job?

Great people surround me. It’s contagious.

Dawn of The Dead (1978) is my favorite movie. The Beach Boys are my favorite band.

What makes you the most happy?

Group bike rides with friends.

What do you love about development?

I love application development because of the thrill of bringing something to life that only moments ago did not exist. For the most part, with only a computer and any text editor at your disposal, tools can be created that make life simpler, more productive, and more exciting, while connecting you to information and people, anywhere, at anytime.

If you were a web program or application, what would you be and why?

The Google search engine. It is arguably the most valuable application in the world, as no other algorithm seeks out and retrieves the information you need as accurately or efficiently. And yet it may be the simplest of all applications to use! I wish I had the ability to analyze and catalog the vast amounts of data across the internet it is able to process on a daily basis.

Favorite Vintage Video Game?

Without a doubt, Techmo Super Bowl. At $70, I still remember it being the most ridiculously overpriced game of that time. But after 20+ full seasons played, I can definitely say I got my money’s worth. To this day, no other video game athlete can match the kick returning prowess of Deion Sanders and his ability to cover three receivers at once.

What’s the view from your desk?

Three monitors, Shannon, and usually a great view of my car that has more than once saved me from a Chicago street cleaning ticket.

Why I love Blueye so much?

Everybody’s pretty phenomenal and it’s very much a team atmosphere. Plus it’s fun too.

Die Hard. Hot Water Music.

Who is your celebrity crush? Why?

Ryan Gosling? Because he is so hot? But ask me again in a month. I can be fickle.

Right now there’s just a wall in front of me, but it’s covered with art.

If you were stuck on the CTA for over an hour, who would you want to be stuck with?

Probably a CTA repairman.

What do you love about strategy?

I really love that strategy is a mixture of research and creative. A combination of planning and agility. It let’s both my artistic/poetic side come out at the same time as my love for academic research. It also really stretches my mind to think about projects long-term, considering both internal and external threats and opportunities to best utilize social media.

If you had 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

I’d buy a time machine, go back to 2005, invest most of it in Apple, Facebook and Twitter. Then, go to 2011 and have 50 million dollars. That’s a really quick ROI because it’d only take minutes. After doing a few wasteful things like buying one of those miniature ponies, I’d begin investing in a few of my favorite new startups, including a great startup called AskWalls.

Who is your celebrity crush?

I get a lot of trash talk for this, but it’s a tie between Stevie Nicks and Paula Dean. On one hand, you have the chick who wrote “Silver Springs.” One the other hand, you have the best cinnamon rolls prepared for you every morning. Either way, it’d be a bit of an age gap.

If you were stuck on the CTA for over an hour, who would you want to be stuck with?

This is interesting because I’d have to mix all aspects of my life- cinema, literature and technology. I’d want Samuel Beckett there for sure since I love his plays. I’d also want Steve Buscemi because every movie he’s done has been enjoyable. As far as my “tech” side goes, I think Kevin Rose and Jason Fried would be great to have on their because they’ve both been huge influences to me. I’d also want Paula Dean because her southern voice would provide comfort to me.

What do you do at Blueye?

Manage social media, amongst a variety of other things.

If you had 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

Pizza Island. Not so much an island of pizza, just one where it’s served exclusively. No construction would be allowed outside of huts for obvious reasons.

I would start off by paying off my student loans, donate some money to a humane society and save the rest for later.

I would be StumbleUpon because there are a lot of random topics out there that interest me and I like to share them with my friends.

What do you love about design?

I love story telling. Design allows me to tell a story every day. Each project is a chance to explore and a chance to learn so that someday I may tell a masterpiece.

If you had 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

Pay some bills for me and my family, then take a trip with my friends to Australia to see Perth’s symphony orchestra. Oh, and drink some really good beer.

Other than being awesome, do you have any weird talents?

Used to be in a band where I played trumpet and drums at the same time. That’s kinda weird.

Do you prefer mustaches or beards? or both?

I’m gonna go with both. I think the best beards also contain good mustaches.

Do you have any pets?

A golden retriever named, “Coach.”

Do I have to choose one? Even if it’s only an hour there are important decisions to be made and a lot can happen in that time.

Why are you great at your job?

Getting to know the client and the needs is most important in my role.  I absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their story.  This requires a varied list of questions to really focus on that story and how best to share it through social media.  That’s just the beginning as the creativity that comes from the initial meetings leading to a truly customized solution for the client is invigorating.  That passion from me and the Blueye team comes through as each new project is unique and exciting!

Favorite movie/band?

How do you spend your weekends?
Making time for a great workout, seeing friends and doing all the errands and tasks that don’t happen during the week.  The rest of the time is usually spent in a skating rink watching my kids (one figure skater, one hockey player).

Why do you love Chicago?

Every season is special in Chicago as there’s always something to do that’s fun.

Breakfast burrito for sure.  A relatively healthy choice, fills you up and give you that spicy kick to start your day.

Why are you great at your job?

I think I am good at what I do because I am constantly learning. I feel that once someone stops learning, they become irrelevant and I never want that to happen!

What’s the next biggest industry trend that excites you?

How web design is shifting so quickly to mobile design. Web designers and developers have to be more flexible with their ideas and think on more levels than a standard computer monitor. Tablet and smart phones are becoming primary web navigation tools for many people, those of us in the industry need to be extremely aware and adaptable.

Do you have any pets?

I have two cats with two distinctly different personalities. Allie is the regal alpha cat, Blondie is the younger and much larger beta cat. They each think they belong on someones lap (or laptop) at all times.

Knob Creek Bourbon and Ginger Ale. Try it, you will thank me later.

Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. Only made it to Tyson once, and that was with a cheat code. Bald Bull was my impossible foe.

I love the details. Design details, tech details, and sometimes insignificant details (If there is a such thing!). I make it a point to look at everything from every angle, and look at every detail.

What do you love about design?

I love solving problems. Small or big. Design lets me solve problems, in a creative way. I use design in my daily life to solve problems, but I especially love the challenges that we face on the web and mobile platforms today.

How do you spend your weekends?

Camping. Fishing. Grilling. I take advantage of being in the northwest suburbs.

Why I love BLUEYE so much?

Its school all over again! It’s a place where learning is on going. Everyone here finds their expertise and constantly shares and teaches each other.

What do I love about being a BLUEYE sales rep?

There isn’t much “selling” work involved. Blueye is a great team that works well together to make brands come alive. I love getting to know all these companies, discovering their potential and illustrating how Blueye can take to a new level.

Using another passengers’ blanket thinking it was the airlines.

I love developing software because I get to tackle real world problems and find better solutions.

Engaging in the open source community and socializing with friends around a bon fire.
